Community Fundraising: A Great Way to Make a Difference for The Common Good

Do you want to make a difference for a cause you care about? Community fundraising could be the answer!

The impact of medical breakthroughs can reverberate across the world, yet they don’t happen overnight. At The Common Good, we rely on generous people like you to sustainably support the amount of time they take and the work required.

A person with a passion or vision can make a significant and positive impact for a cause that matters to them through community fundraising. While it only takes one person to come up with an idea and get the ball rolling, it is together that we can make the greatest difference.

The Common Good is fortunate to have many incredible supporters who have raised money for our researchers and the life-changing work they do by holding a community fundraising event or activity and rallying support from those in their own networks.

By organising a community fundraising activity, you can give many hours of time to the researchers we support who are striving to make medical breakthroughs in the areas of mental health, dementia, lung disease and heart disease.

What is Community Fundraising?

Community fundraising is simply rounding up those within your network or connected to your network and mustering their support to drum up donations or raise awareness for your cause.

In order to drive donations, some of our supporters hold a special event or activity specifically to raise funds. And it’s important to remember that your fundraising initiative doesn’t have to be complicated to make a difference.

Need inspiration for a community fundraising event or activity? We share several fundraising ideas and a checklist to help you plan and promote your event in our blog here.

The Impact of Community Fundraising

One event, The Tree Party for The Common Good, held in the Queensland town of Seventeen Seventy in May 2023, raised more than $12,000 for cystic fibrosis research.

The success of this event was a testament to the passion and dedication of the families impacted by the chronic, life-altering condition who organised the fundraiser.
