Recently, we hosted our annual research award ceremony to honour the exceptional researchers who have received grant funding from The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation in 2024.
The event, on Monday, July 22, was a special celebration of the individuals whose proposals have demonstrated extraordinary potential and who have inspired us with their passion and commitment.
Grant funding is crucial to advancing research and innovation and to providing the necessary resources for our researchers to explore new ideas, develop groundbreaking solutions, and push the boundaries of knowledge.
At this event, we acknowledged 49 recently awarded grants, with the total amount for the awards being >$4.7M.

We received an incredible donation from our remarkable supporter, Bill Van Nierop, for one innovation grant. Bill was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2015, and he required a double-lung transplant in 2021 at The Prince Charles Hospital.
In 2023, two years post double-lung transplant, Bill undertook an 800km kayak down the Murrumbidgee River. Bill raised over $50,000 from this challenge, providing vital funding for IPF research.
The Bill Van Nierop Long Kayak for Lungs Award is presented to Viviana Lutzky.
