Celebrating an Extraordinary Year of Impact: A Look Back at 2024
It’s that time of year when we stop and take a moment to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together in 2024.
This has been an extraordinary year for The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation and our community and fundraising initiative, The Common Good. That was only possible thanks to the remarkable people who make up our community. Your unwavering support, whether through donations, time, or advocacy, has been the driving force behind our success.
At the heart of our mission is one simple goal: to help people live healthier, longer lives. Through your generosity, we can fund life-changing research, advance critical hospital projects, provide vital medical equipment, and support patient care initiatives across The Prince Charles Hospital, Caboolture Hospital, and throughout Queensland.
Our work is made possible because of you—the passionate individuals who come together for the common good. Whether you’re giving financially, donating your time, or advocating for better health, your contributions are essential in helping us improve healthcare and make a real difference in people’s lives.
Below, we’re proud to share a small selection of the numerous highlights from the past year.

We hope you are as proud as we are of this wonderful recognition!

Volunteering for The Common Good in 2024
The Common Good is all about good people doing good things – and our volunteers are a testament to that!
We are grateful to have hundreds of incredible people who volunteer their time at events throughout the year, including Giving Day, Ekka, and Tour de Brisbane.
Volunteering to support our events and activities helps us generate more support, funds and connections to help achieve our ultimate goal – to help people live healthier, longer lives.
It’s estimated that event volunteers contributed a tremendous 8,600+ hours in 2024.

Hospital Volunteers in 2024
Did you know that we now proudly coordinate hospital volunteers across The Prince Charles Hospital, Caboolture Hospital, and Kallangur Satellite Hospital?
You might be familiar with the iconic Charlie’s Angels, who warmly and enthusiastically support across The Prince Charles Hospital and are proudly supported by Kedron-Wavell.
There is a team of 115 strong Charlie’s Angels who contribute over 625 hours of their time each week! That’s over 30,000 hours!
As Caboolture Hospital continues to grow, so too does the amazing team – with 40 wonderful humans currently volunteering. How many hours, you ask? Over 14,000!
Volunteering Queensland Finalist – Maree Adams
A particularly special highlight of 2024 was the Foundation’s Volunteer Coordinator being recognised as a finalist in the Excellence in Volunteer Management category of the prestigious Volunteering Queensland awards.
A huge congratulations to Maree!
Celebrating the Year’s Inspiring Fundraising Highlights
From pedal power to strawberry sundaes, 2024 was a year to remember for The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation’s incredible supporters. Together, you helped raise funds for life-saving research, critical hospital equipment, and patient care that changes lives.
Here are just a few of the amazing fundraising events that brought our community together in 2024:
- Tour de Brisbane
Tour de Brisbane is the ride for transplant research – and in 2024, fundraisers raised close to $70,000! From riders to fundraisers and transplant recipients, we thank everyone involved in this wonderful event. Read more here, or why not sign up for the 2025 event?
- Chain Reaction Challenge
2024 was the first year that The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation was a beneficiary of the Brisbane Chain Reaction Challenge event, seeing around 50 cyclists ride over 1,000km across seven days in Adelaide. Funds raised helped purchase a vital piece of equipment for the Children’s Emergency Department at The Prince Charles Hospital – a paediatric ultrasound machine. - Tree Party for The Common Good
The remarkable community of Agnes Water and the town of 1770 came together to dance under the stars through their second ‘Tree Party for the Common Good‘ event. With a family connection to lung disease, the Tree Party for The Common Good drivers raised funds to support lung research. - Giving Day
The Prince Charles Hospital’s Children’s Emergency Department is one of Queensland’s busiest emergency departments, and that is why our fourth annual Giving Day rallies the community to raise funds to support this vital service. The outcome of the 2024 Giving Day event? Over $100,000 was raised and will help support an expanded Child Life Therapy program.
- Ekka Strawberry Sundaes
Ekka showgoers once again proved that their love for the iconic strawberry sundae is still as strong as ever, devouring over 125,890 strawberry sundaes over the 9-day event. Over 2,000 volunteers helped us scoop, chop, top and serve the famous ice cream teats in 2024.
