HELP FIGHT
Lung Disease
Did you know that lung disease is the third leading cause of death worldwide?
With 1 in 3 Australians predicted to experience a lung disease during their lives, finding new ways to address respiratory health is a vital part of our medical research efforts. No matter their age, gender, career, smoking history, any one of the 30+ conditions under the “lung disease” umbrella can impact the lives of your loved ones without warning – and we all know someone who’s lived through it.
However, Australian lung disease research faces a huge stigma: the Lung Foundation Australia found that 1 in 6 Australians believe people with lung disease who have smoked “deserve less support” or “are their own worst enemy”, and Australia ranks lowest among 15 surveyed countries for sympathy for lung disease sufferers. This means less donations, less funding, and less progress.
We aim to change that.
